Painted Cast Iron Doorstop Sink Box Duck Decoy Canvas Back 17lbs/bookend/decor

WE HAVE LEARNED THAT THIS WAS A DUCK. BOOTSCRAPER THAT HAS BEEN RE-MADE INTO. A BOOKEND OR DOOR STOP. Still a beautiful piece, but not what we thought it was. Owner collected decoys, forged iron and vintage hunting gear. This decoy appears to be a canvas back drake. Very nice paint with minor wear and slight rust spots on bottom. Not sure who painted it, no markings. Very heavy, it weighs 17 lbs. 15″ long, 6″ in width and 5 tall. ANTIQUE CAST IRON SINK BOX DECOY ANCHOR DOOR STOP REDHEAD DRAKE CHESAPEAKE BAY

It is the middle decoy in the group picture. The measurements are approximate sizes. It is 13 1/2″ long by 6 1/2″ wide and 5 tall. It weighs 20 1/2 pounds. The duck looks like a redhead drake to me. I found these decoys in an old Elkton MD Estate so I assume they are locally made for the Chesapeake Bay region. The paint looks original and is in good condition with paint loss and rust spots. See all of the pictures as they are intended to be used as part of the items desription. I don’t know for sure who painted these or if they are even done by the same maker. After doing a little research on the interweb I think some of the possible makers could be John McKinney, Paul Gibson, John Holly or John Graham. The free listing tool.
