Shown in “The Doorstop Book” by John & Nancy Smith on page 162. Antique White Elephant Hubley Door Stop Cast Iron Pearl White Cream Tole Shabby. This is a large antique Hubley Elephant Doorstop with Trunk up and Tusks. It has its original paint in pearl, white cream with pink open mouth. This is heavy cast iron in done in a two part mold. Apart from its minor age related wear with some paint loss on the tusks and body, it is in wonderful condition for its age with no breaks or repairs. This great Hubley Elephant Door Stop measures 11 1/2″ overall length, 8″ highest high. This majestic animal weighs about 8 ½ lbs and will be a wonderfull addition to your collection or will look great in your Hallway or Foyer on floor or table. Antique Cast Iron Hubley Elephant Door Stop

Antique Cast Iron Door Stop. Early 1900’s very finely detailed. Color is a vibrant Red and original. I haven’t see one of these in red before. It does have some paint loss, surface ware, dirt and oxidation associated with age. I haven’t attempted to clean it. Most of the paint loss is on the tusks. The rest of the paint loss in minimal. The dimensions are approx: 12″ long x 8 1/2 ” tall x 4 wide. The weight is approximately 8 1/2 pds. The Hubley Manufacturing Company was first incorporated in 1894 in. The first Hubley toys appeared in 1909 and were made of cast-iron, with themes that ranged from horse-drawn vehicles and different breeds of dogs, to tractors, steam shovels and guns (Smitsonian Institution, website). Hubley’s main competition in the early years was Arcade Richardson 1999, p. Early toys were known for their complexity. This is a fine example of the exquisite work and detail associated with the Hubley Manufacturing Company and would be a great addition to any collection. This is an as is sale.
