Antique & Rare Cast Iron Doorstop Hubley English Bulldog Original Paint

Description: Antique and very rare cast iron doorstop cast in the form of an English Bulldog. The Bulldog is in great condition with its original paint. The detail and patina on the piece is great. This is piece weighs about 4.5 pounds. This vintage doorstop is represented in John and Nancy Smith’s book “The Doorstop Book: An Encyclopedia of Doorstop Collecting” Published by Schieffer Books, Atglen, PA in 2006. See page 128 for a similar examples. Please carefully review photos as they are part and parcel of the description. Size: 9″ high, 5.0″ wide and 6.50 long. Marks: None I can see. Distinguishing Characteristics – Most Interesting About The Piece: This is definitely a nice and relatively scarce doorstop. It weighs about 4.5 pounds. Condition: This doorstop is in good condition with no breaks or repairs. It is all original and retains quite a bit of its original paint. Mr. & Mrs. Ally Sloper Antique Cast Iron Doorstop set of 2 English 19th Century

Ally Sloper Antique Cast Iron Doorstop set of 2 English 19th Century. Being offered for sale is a pair of late 19th century cast iron English doorstops. These are from the old English cartoon about a drunken con man and his wife in. Sloper is depicted wearing a bonnet and holding a baby in each hand with a dog at her feet. Ally Sloper in depicted holding onto his umbrella for stability, he has an oversized nose and a top hat and he is dressed nicely with coattails visible. He also has a small dog at his feet. Sloper stands 10 7/8 tall and 6 1/8 across the base. Total weight is 3.7 lbs. Ally stands 11 1/8 tall and 6 1/8 across the base. Total weight is 3.5 lbs. The condition is shown in the photos. They are in fantastic condition. The enamel is bright, vibrant and appears to be original; only minimal chipping and enamel loss commiserate with age. Ally has a cast number on the back but it is illegible (3rd photo), I can not locate any number on Mrs. Antique/Vintage & Estate Items–These items are not new. They have been used and normal wear should be expected. Additional care or cleaning may be needed. Please do not expect these items to be in like new condition unless stated as such.
