The paint is what I would say almost excellent there are no chips or cracks, no dings or dents, and no signs of repair. The door stop is two pieces of cast iron metal in the shape of a Boston Terrier with its head turned to the LEFT. The piece measures 9 3/4 inches tall by 9 3/4 inches long. It’s almost 9 lbs. RARE Antique Boston Terrier LEFT FACING Cast Iron Dog Statue Doorstop NOT A HUBLEY! We were contacted by an Expert Collector of Hubley items, who informed us that this doorstop is Not an Authentic Hubley. We want to be fair and truthful in our postings, so we are making changes to update the info as we know it now And, Obviously we are reducing the price as it is Not a Hubley design, but it is still in the Antique range, as far as we can tell, so it is a valuable piece. The information that we now have is that Many companies copied the success of the Hubley company and put out their Own versions of the popular items. It seems that there were too many companies to even keep track of but many of their work has survived, as we can see by this piece. Here we have a RARE Antique Cast Iron Boston Terrier LEFT FACING Dog Doorstop in great physical shape. There are No connector screws that we can see, it looks like the seams were welded together. The paint is original and worn in all the right places. This guy weighs 4 pounds, 9.5 ounces. The seams are very tight and his paint shows his age. His SIZE: 7 1/2 ” LONG, X 6 7/8 ” HIGH. ++++++++++++++++ Note: All items come from a Smoke FREE home but, we do have cats! Antique Hubley Gem Rarer Left Facing Boston Bull Terrier Cast Iron Door Stop

Truly a Classic, Hubley’s Left Facing Boston Terrier or Bulldog Cast Iron Door Stop. Approx: 9.75″ H x 9.5″ L, 6.5 lbs. Authentic from Extensive Cast Iron Collector’s Treasured Stock. One of Hubley’s most iconic Stops and cast iron productions. The left facing ones like this are quite a bit rarer maybe 1/10 are facing left. This cute little guy has a few blips and dings to paint but still a great piece with vintage look. We noticed a small (maybe 1/8″ x 1/4″) production hole in back of dog’s neck, but it does not effect the appeal of item. We only noticed it while taking pics as it blends in with paint misses, its just above shoulder near center (see last picture in gallery). This is a hollow core cast iron doorstop, but still heavy at roughly 6.5 lbs. We are pricing far below most of this style listed. We are not sure of the exact age, but this appears to be an earlier one from Hubley. This was owned by a very high end and selective cast iron (and other items) collector with some of his pieces worth into the several thousands. If the metal looks a little rough or the paint is too good to be true, its probably a knock off. Also, the detail should be refined as on our piece, where you can even see his whiskers.
