Vintage MODERNISTIC FLOWERS Cast Iron Doorstop 1930’s Art Deco HTF

This is the hard-to-find Modernistic Flowers cast iron doorstop as pictured in Jeanne Bertoias Doorstops Identification and Values price guide. 9 ¾ high x 9 ½ wide by 1 ¾ deep. There are no makers marks that I can detect. The flowers are blue, white, with yellowish-orange centers; the leaves are deep green with a blue hand-painted design; and the base is black with yellowish-orange polka dots. As visible in the photos, the original paint shows wear, chipping and crazing, which is typical for its age and intended use. The back and underside show some minor oxidation. Important to note is that there is a stress crack in the casting where the flower connects to the pot, which based on my research, is fairly common for this particular doorstop. This is a nice old doorstop that has been in our family since the 1960s and I guarantee it to be authentic and not a repro or repaint. Happy to answer any questions, so please feel free to ask. #163 “Mixed Flowers in Woven Basket” Cast Iron Door Stop. 1930 vintage original Creations Company piece. Based in Lancaster, PA. Creations company was only in business for one year in 1930 and then forced out of business in the great depression. This is one of the few flower motif doorstops made by them. Marked in the middle on the back with Copyr 1930 Creations Co. And the number 163. In very good condition with some paint loss & wear on the high points. Measures 9 inches tall and 5 3/8 inches wide. Antique HUBLEY 821 Cast Iron Colonial Man With Flowers Bouquets DOORSTOP

Good morning from Congers, NY. Recently picked up this fairly rare doorstop from a Nyack, NY estate. Over the years I’ve lived in and around Nyack, I’ve found more than my share of good quality doorstops in the Victorian houses that populate the town. These things are still out there! A beautiful doorstop, just the way I got it from the house. This WILL improve with cleaning, but I’m leaving it just the way it is. I literally have done nothing- no compressed air, no soap and water, nothing. You can see the surface dirt. Great old surface and paint. Stands just about 9 1/8 tall. Concave back as shown in photos. Numbered “821” on reverse, see photos. Finished really well all over. Just shy of 8.5 pounds. The photos you see are of doorstop #2; this is the item you will receive. I had not had the pleasure of owning this doorstop until these two came into my possession. This is a Hubley model called “Colonial Man with Flowers”. I was sort of surprised to see it described as a Colonial man with flowers; I saw it as a woman. I’m estimating 85-90% original paint left. Appropriate age related wear in spots. I have some flexibility in my price, feel free to make reasonable offers. If you have any questions, feel free to send them over. You may/will need to sign for the item when it arrives. Lovely cast iron lady with basket of colorful flower antique doorstop/book stop with rare pink dress, in good vintage condition I believe she is from the 1920s era. The paint is factory original and still quite colorful, please see the artistic detailing to her face picture 7.
