Manufactured by the Hubley Manufacturing Company of Lancaster, Pennsylvania early 1900’s—outstanding condition with all original paint – great colors – no touch up or restoration — on back reads “5”. Iron doorstops were introduced in the early 19th century, which ultimately led to the popularity of Hubley door stops. Many collectors look specifically for Hubley door stops. They’re a popular maker of iron doorstops that created detailed subjects and with great detail–hand painted—-This golfer is in its original condition with details- hat, tie, knickers, clubs, golf bag, etc. Approx 8″H, 6″W, 2.25D. Rare Vintage Hubley #238 Cast Iron Overhead Swinging Golfer Doorstop

Rare Vintage Hubley Cast Iron Overhead Swinging Golfer Doorstop With Original Paint. Manufactured by the Hubley Manufacturing Company of Lancaster, Pennsylvania in 1920, this cast iron doorstop is in outstanding all original bright paint with no touch up or restoration of any kind, and with wonderful patina. It depicts an older, grey haired man, with typical knicker golf garb, taking a wild swing at a golf ball resting on the grass. It has a hollow out back with a “238” factory marking, indicating that it is original Hubley and not a reproduction. 10″ H x 7.13″ W x 2.13 D. Seen in Jeanne Bertoia’s 1985 book on doorstops page 60; and referenced on page 211 of the Smith book on doorstops. You are responsible to read the entire description. Most items are insured. Antique Hubley Cast Iron Doorstop Putting Golfer #34, Original Paint, 1920, NR

Description : An investment-quality, 100-yr old painted Cast Iron Doorstop, 8-3/8H, Hubley Manufacturing Co. This is Hubley design #34: Putting Golfer. A period sporting gentleman dressed in a bold red jacket and tan striped knee breeches, addressing the ball on a green turf/scrub base. I think this might be a chip-putt with an iron. Impressed 34 on reverse. Retains original painted and highly-detailed surface. The photos are probably the best description. Literature : Jeanne Bertoias Doorstops: Identification & Values , Ordinary People, p. Condition : Some expected soiling, high point wear, oxidation, etc. It has not been cleaned. There is some fading noted on the front edge of the green. Beware of the many reproductions our there..
