Genuine Antique Cast Iron Hubley Sitting Persian Cat Doorstop Marked Original

Hubley was famous for their wonderful cast iron toys, doorstops and book ends. Their creations are true Americana! This Hubley sitting Persian cat cast iron doorstop is documented as being somewhat rare. It is one of the larger Hubley cat doorstops weighing 5.6 pounds and having a height of just over 9. The doorstop has two Hubley markings inside near the base (see red arrows in the photos). I could not find a marked number but it may be a model #302. The doorstop was made circa 1900 – 1920. This doorstop appears in several reference books about cast iron doorstops. The Persian cat is painted gray, brown and white. The cat has blue eyes and pink in the ears & mouth (tongue). There is a wonderful expression on the face of the cat. The position of the body is lovely and realistic. The paint appears to be original and untouched. Please note the condition of the paint on the face of the cat, especially the nose area. It has minimal paint damage & loss. Most doorstops of this cat that I have seen suffer much paint loss around the nose perhaps from doors banging into the nose. The doorstop has typical wear found on these old cast iron doorstops including wear to the paint, chips, rust, scrapes, dirt and scratches. It has not been altered by me by waxing, washing, touching up or anything else. I only used the Persian cat doorstop for display in my Americana collection. The cat has not been used as a doorstop for the last 50 years. I believe the condition of the paint is very good or better compared to similar cast iron doorstops. The aged wear and patina on the paint is part of the great charm for these American treasures from the past. I have not ever cleaned the doorstop outside. Materials: Cast iron & paint. Design: Sitting Persian cat. Colors: Gray, brown, white, blue, pink. Weight: 5.6 pounds. Markings: Two “Hubley” markings inside. Antique Rare All Original Elf Under Mushroom Cast Iron Doorstop Marked N514e

Here’s a very rare original antique Elf Under Mushroom cast iron doorstop with almost all of its original paint! It is marked N514E on back, but it actually looks like a letter B on the end to me? 7 1/2″tall x 6 1/2″wide x 2 3/4deep….. Very thick heavy cast iron….. Wonderful original paint has normal old aging and wear, but real nice overall. Excellent condition with no damage of any kind. I believe this is the exact Elf Under Mushroom doorstop pictured on a major antique doorstop site on “Identification of Antique Doorstops Cast Prior To 1948″. Look closely at the back and notice all of the intricate details of the paint, wear, etc….. I’m 100% positive this is the EXACT doorstop pictured there. Hubley Boston Terrier Cast Iron Doorstop Large Looking Straight Marked I. C. C. Co

This is another of my personal collection of cast iron items. This Boston Terrier measures 9 3/4 inches high by 10 inches long. There has been no touch ups or repaint to this two part casting doorstop. This doorstop has a green collar and gold stars around the collar. Look it over closely and you will find this doorstop to be rare and like the many Boston Terrier doorstops that Hubley of Lancaster Pa. It is one of a kind. Marked on the bottom. I show a picture from the Doorstop book by Nancy ad John Smith. The quality of the making closely resembles the quality of Hubley Doorstops.
