LATE 19TH CENTURY ANTIQUE CAST IRON COUNTRY SHUTTERED COTTAGE DOORSTOP, IN ORIG ENAMEL COLOR PAINT. Late 19th c American cast iron doorstops. 6″ Height x 8 ½” Width x 2 Depth. The original enamel paint on this particular late 19th century cast iron doorstop of a shuttered country cottage with tile roof, adjoining fencing, lawn, tile roof & chimney is in wonderfully well preserved condition, with the colors remaining vivid, saturated and rich. There’s only some slight enamel loss at the base of the walkway leading up to the front door of the cottage and some scuffing of the white painted side of the cottage. The rest of the painted cast iron doorstop is virtually free of other damage and the form doesn’t suffer any loss or broken elements. It remains largely intact and most interestingly, still has its original, first generation enamel paint. The paint is truly extraordinary, with plum decorating the tiles of the roof and green, white and yellow adorning the sidewalls and siding of the cottage. There is fencing to the cottage’s right and left and a walkway and lawn in the front. Great color, surfaces and unending Victorian charm. Very Good to Excellent overall vintage condition.
