VICTORIAN HERALDIC LION DOORSTOP – 14.5 inches tall. A very heavy cast iron doorstop depicting a rampant lion on a plinth. Possibly made by the St. Blazey Foundry in Cornwall, UK. Condition: Good functional uncleaned condition. Height: 37 cm (14 5/8). Width: 25 cm (9 7/8). Max depth: 9.5 cm (3 3/4). Weight: 6.18 kg (13.6 lb). Antique Lion Cast-Iron Doorstop English Rampant Lion c. 1860’s Original

Beautiful antique detailed Cast-Iron Lion Doorstop – c 1860s. Very decorative detailed English Lion. A 19th Century Cast Iron Lion Rampant Door Porter with the lion resting on a waisted sockle. Cast with scroll decoration and cartouche, finished with a plinth base. Unusual and a great gift for a collector of antiques or doorstops.. Excellent condition as shown – still retaining part of its original bronze finish as shown. Weight about 4.8 kg! Please take a look at my other items. Rare Pair Antique Cast Iron Lion Rampant Door Stops, Door Porters, Fireside

I have here a super pair of lion rampant door stops, door porters or perhaps to decorate the fireside or garden patio if preferred. They are black cast iron and measure about 14 inches high with the bases measuring approx 10 by 3 inches and they do look impressive. I got these as a pair but I think they may well be of differing dates. The one facing towards the left is more finely cast which you can see in the pics and it is heavier at approx 6.2 kgs. My feeling is this is older probably late Victorian. The other facing right is less finely cast and a bit lighter at approx 5.6 kgs and tips slightly outwards as you can see in the back to back pic. I think therefor this one is more likely later in date although still of some age. Condition wise they are pretty good I would say, there are some areas of light rusting. Please refer to the pics which give the best description. Altogether they are highly decorative and make great display interior design items and it is nice to have a pair.
