Signed, Fish & Numbered 269 (tough to read, but it is there). Measures approximately 9.5″ tall with feather x base approximately 4.5″ wide x 1.5 deep. I have taken a number of pictures so youe can see ith has wear and missing paint. Still a lovely item to add to your collection. VERY RARE Tom Breen Southern Sam Cast Iron Doorstop Black Americana! Here we have an original Tom Breen Southern Sam cast iron doorstop! I knew Tom personally… My Dad and myself set up next to him for years at several shows including Brimfield, Ma. He was a one of kind individual and was a very talented folk art artist. He created many original pieces of work that included wood carvings such as signs, fish decoys, chain saw carvings, etc. These pieces were all hand painted by him. Tom also created many different original doorstops. Most I’m sure, if 2 or 3 of each exist today I would be surprised. We are offering today one of these rare doorstops! This one he titled Southern Sam and is marked with this name on the back of the piece. He also marked the back with c 1908 TB. TB were of course his initials. The owner of this site I do not know, but he obviously knew Tom very well. He has many great pictures of Tom and also his carvings and doorstops. He notes many of his doorstops have brought several thousand dollars. I enjoyed knowing Tom and always looked forward to his many stories. One of things I remember most is how not a single child would not pass him without doing a double take… He looked like Santa. When you consider his charm, work shop, one of a kind pieces, and his stories, in a way he was! Please check our other listings for more neat stuff! Just under 16 tall. Made of cast iron. Rare and Hard to Find Antique HUBLEY LARGE Cast Iron PEKINGESE DOG DOORSTOP. This was made from a two piece molded and held together with flat head screws as seen photos. There is some chips and scratches in the paint as shown in my photos, but in all this dog doorstop is in very good condition with no cracks, repairs, holes, etc in the cast iron itself. 14″ long x 10″ high x5 wide.
