Rare CAST IRON Doorstop LEXINGTON, MASS. Revolutionary Monument Doorstop

Only seen this piece a few times in my many years in business – this cast iron doorstop of the Minute – Man Monument in Lexington, Massachusetts. Marked on reverse as being made by Winlock Reproductions – originally Cast in 1925. History on this monument includes the following. It stands at the southeast corner of the Lexington Battle Green, facing the route of the British advance. Originally a functioning drinking fountain and watering place for men, horses, cattle and dogs, it was unveiled on April 19, 1900, the 125th anniversary of the battle. Very unique – again I’ve only seen a few of these in my many years in business – paint is old. Measures 7 7/8″ long by 5 3/4″ inches tall. Vintage Big Cast Iron Doorstop Fife and Drum Revolutionary Soldiers

A fabulous piece of Americana, this large cast iron doorstop features five Revolutionary War soldiers — two play the drums, and one plays the fife. Most of the piece’s original two colors of blue paint on the soldiers’ uniforms is still intact. The piece has acquired an overall rust patina. The back of the piece is stamped CN. The piece is in age-related condition — the top of the left hand embellishment has broken off, tho it doesn’t affect the piece’s integrity. The doorstop is approx. 11″ long x 8 1/2″ high. It’s bottom is 3 1/8 wide. The doorstop weighs almost 5 1/2 pounds. This item is in the category “Collectibles\Metalware\Cast Iron”. Cast Iron Minuteman Doorstop, Revolutionary War Soldier, c. 1920-30’s

Welcome to Antiques & Moore! This listing is for an antique cast iron Revolutionary War Minuteman Soldier doorstop, c. This doorstop is antique and not a reproduction made in the 1980’s. Maker unidentified, however, the doorstop was made during this period in the USA. Measures 7 1/2″ high with the base measuring 2 3/8″ wide and 2 1/2 deep. Weighs 3.7 pounds. This nice doorstop is in very good Estate condition with expected paint chips, however, the paint is thickly applied and retains good color with naturally aged patina.
