The doorstop is cast in the form of a hawk perched on what appears to be brown rock with large leaves next to it. The hawk is standing on the perch with his tail pointing down and its head looking slightly downwards. The hawk is gray in color with a yellow beak, yellow talons, and blackeyes. The base as well as the perch are colored in brown. The piece retains most of its original paint with some losses to the front of the beak, the edge of the base, and a few small spots throughout the body of the piece. The back of the doorstop has brown coloring and is stamped 78 at the bottom edge. A great looking piece worthy of a spot in your collection. Please carefully review the photos as they are part and parcel of the description. Date: Uncertain but most likely early to mid 1900s (early to mid 20th century). Size: Measures 6″ in height with the base measuring 4 1/8″ by 2 3/4. The piece weighs slightly over 2 pounds and one ounce. Marks: Marked with the stamped number “78” on the back at the bottom edge. Distinguishing Characteristics – Most Interesting About The Piece: This is a nice old doorstop in excellent condition and retaining most of its original paint.
