Antique Cast Iron Door Stop. Early 1900’s very finely detailed. Color is a vibrant Red and original. I haven’t see one of these in red before. It does have some paint loss, surface ware, dirt and oxidation associated with age. I haven’t attempted to clean it. Most of the paint loss is on the tusks. The rest of the paint loss in minimal. The dimensions are approx: 12″ long x 8 1/2 ” tall x 4 wide. The weight is approximately 8 1/2 pds. The Hubley Manufacturing Company was first incorporated in 1894 in. The first Hubley toys appeared in 1909 and were made of cast-iron, with themes that ranged from horse-drawn vehicles and different breeds of dogs, to tractors, steam shovels and guns (Smitsonian Institution, website). Hubley’s main competition in the early years was Arcade Richardson 1999, p. Early toys were known for their complexity.
