Antique Bradley and Hubbard Painted Cast Iron Doorstop Parrot/Parakeet in Ring

Antique Cast Iron Doorstop Parrot or Parakeet in Ring By Bradley and Hubbard. For Your Antique Cast Iron Doorstop Collection-Parakeet1. Description: Antique cast iron doorstop cast in the form of a parrot or parakeet standing on a perch inside a ring. This painted doorstop was made by Bradley and Hubbard in the early 1900s. It shows a green colored parrot with a reddish-golden head. There are several shades of green, gold, red and purple within the piece. The ring itself is gold in color and is affixed to a heavy green painted base. The base has rubber bumpers on the back, which have been lost over time and only the screws that were holding them with one worn out piece on one of the two spots is left. The piece shows great details of the casting in the features of the parakeet, its feathers, and its claws. The piece is all original retaining quite a bit of its original paint (estimate >85%). The only issue we see is the piece is soiled and as such its colors are not as vivid as the photos may suggest. The piece also has losses to the paint at the edges with some signs of rust which can be seen in the photos. This is a nice size piece and weighs over seven and a half pounds. See page 97 in John and Nancy Smith’s book “The Doorstop Book” published by Schiffer Books of Atglen PA in 2006 for a similar example. Please carefully review the photos presented as they are part and parcel of the description. Date: Uncertain, but most likely sometime in the early 1900s. Size: Measures 8″ in height, 6 3/4″ with the base measuring 6 7/8″ by 2 1/2″ and 1 3/8 in height. The doorstop weighs over seven and a half pounds. Maker: Bradley and Hubbard. Distinguishing Characteristics – Most Interesting About The Piece: This is definitely a nice antique and fairly scarce doorstop. It would make a great addition to your collection. Condition: This doorstop is in good condition with no breaks or repairs. It is all original and retains quite a bit of its original paint (>85%). The piece is fairly soiled and as such its colors are not as vivid as the photos may suggest. The piece also has losses to the paint at the edges, on the bottom of the base, and here and there on the parrot. It also shows signs of rust especially on the base and its bottom, which can be seen in the photos. Be that as it may, the piece is beautiful and worthy of a spot in your collection. Antique Liberty Foundry of St Louis 1940’s Fowl Andirons/Doorstops One Pair

A pair of extremely rare and highly collectible 1940’S cast iron half molded wood duck andirons WITHOUT firedogs. They are in excellent pre-owned condition with no chips or cracks. They are signed with raised cast letters on the back of the ducks “LIBERTY FOUNDRY ST LOUIS, MO”. Liberty Foundry was established in St. Louis, MO in 1906. Hubley Cast Iron Yawning Sleepy Puppy Dog Doorstop Door Stop. This is one of the cuter things you will see today. Adorable yawning puppy dog door stop. Look at his half closed sleepy eyes! I was told that this was made by Hubley but it is not marked so I cannot swear to that. His paint is present but there are losses and the rest of it has small cracks in it. Not in the actual door stop just the paint. May have been touched up a long time ago. This is the first I have seen of this guy. He stands 6.75 and weighs over 5 pounds. Offered is an antique cast iron figural doorstop in the form of an anxious dog guarding a large bone, MUTT and HIS BONE. Unmarked by the maker, I believe this cast iron doorstop, in original paint, was manufactured by HUBLEY circa the 1920s, The doorstop measures approx. 8.5 inches tall at tip of the dogs ear and 6.5 inches wide at the base. Condition is good, as shown. There is some paint loss and wear commensurate with age and use. Looks to be Hubley cast iron doorstop. Looks like back has “88” stamped on back – hard to read – see photo and “rubbing” I did by placing paper over the.
