1930’s Antique Signed WILTON CAST IRON WATER TURTLE DOOR STOP. 1930’S SCARCELY FOUND HUBLEY-ERA CAST IRON Cast iron WATER TURTLE TORTOISE DOOR STOP DOORSTOP MINT CONDITION. Made by Wilton Products Inc. 1893, the Wilton family began the Susquehanna Casting Company along the Susquehanna River in Wrightsville, PA, making industrial and consumer iron items. In 1930, they became Wilton Products, and began making metal art goods, including this very hard to find and highly sought after Cast Iron Water Turtle Doorstopper. It measures a large 8 3/4″ long, 7 ½” wide and 3 1/4 tall. It is very heavy, at almost 7 pounds. This life sized turtle is pictured in John and Nancy Smith’s The Doorstop Book. It is impressed on the bottom with the “WILTON” foundry mark. As you can see by the close up of the foot, the detail is very realistic. I have come across a few of the Hubley Box Turtles, but this Wilton Water Turtle Door Stopper is a real rarity!
