Vintage Cast Iron Doorstop Two Zebras Standing Surrounded by Green Plants. For Your Old Cast Iron Doorstop Collection-Zebras1. Description: A very nice vintage cast iron doorstop. The doorstop is cast in the form two Zebras standing next to each other surrounded by green plants. One of the zebras is standing with its head down, while the other is standing next to it with its head resting on its back. The zebras are colored in black and white stripes while the plants surrounding them are green in color. The zebras are standing on green glass which is the color of the top of the base. The piece retains most of its original paint with some minor losses. The back of the doorstop has black coloring surrounding the stripes of the second zebra and is stamped 3419 at the left top of the arch within the body of the second zebra. Unlike most doorstop the coloring of the zebras is on the front and back and not only on the front. A great looking piece worthy of a spot in your collection. Please carefully review the photos as they are part and parcel of the description. Date: Uncertain but most likely early to mid 1900s (early to mid 20th century). Size: Measures 4 3/4″ in height with the base measuring 5 3/8″ by 2 3/8. The piece weighs almost three and a half pounds. Marks: Marked with the stamped number “3419” on the back at the left top of the arch within the body of the second zebra. Distinguishing Characteristics – Most Interesting About The Piece: This is a nice old doorstop in excellent condition and retaining most of its original paint. A beautiful piece which would display very well in your collection of doorstops. Condition: This doorstop is in very good condition with no breaks or repairs. It retains quite a bit of its original paint with some losses (estimated at better than 98%). The piece is a bit soiled and would probably benefit for a good cleaning. It does have some minor rust signs throughout. Be that as it may, the piece is just great looking and would display very well in your collection.
