Iron is good, a little light surface rust on the bottom 5. Paint is rough, worn and some flacking 6. These were all hand painted, sometimes by people working at home 7. Nice form, just worn paint. This adorable cast iron sleeping cat with mat weighs approximately 20 pounds and measures 12″x10″. These do not come up often, but it is my understanding that these were made in the early 1900s by Hubley, although it is not signed there’s many examples of these made by Hubley that were not signed according to John and Nancy Smith. Up for sale is a rare antique handmade early 20th century solid cast iron figural doorstop. It’s made of very thick iron, is a heavy piece, and has acquired a lovely patina from age. It depicts a human form with a lion head and mounted to an iron base. The doorstop measures 9 inches tall by 4 1/2 inches wide by 3 inches back to front.
