It weighs apprx 5 1/2 lbs, and you can see from the back how it was pressed into the mold. It also still has the bronze finish, and it has excellent detail. This one is in “as is, as found, as photographed, ” what you see is what you get condition. This girl has her tail, but it has been tacked back on more than once. I have one with possibly original paint and guess what?? There is a metal rod that attaches her head to her body and when she is moved, her head nods. There is rust and remnants of white paint. There are no other breaks or repairs other than her tail. As I said, she’s heavy-14lbs. She measures approximately 13″ nose to tail and is 10 1/2″ high (to the top of her ear). She would be a phenomenal addition to someone’s farmhouse decor. Your friends won’t have one?? And you probably won’t see another one of these for awhile. LATE 19TH to EARLY 20TH CENTURY AME RI CAN ANTIQUE PAINTED CAST IRON TUSKED. ELEPHANT FIGURATIVE DOORSTOP, in. ORIGINAL METALLIC SILVER, GREEN &. BLACK ENAMEL PAINT, with UNPAINTED BASE & NATURALLY OXIDIZED with ORIGINAL PATINA. [100% original, dry painted surfaces]. Late 19th-early 20th century Ame ri can antique hand painted cast iron figurative doorstops of fauna. 6 12″ Width x 5 34″ Height x 3 Depth. Offered is this completely untouched, fabulous late 19th-early 20th century Ame ri can antique painted cast iron elephant door stop, with absolutely original paint and surfaces. It has naturally oxidized finish from age, consistent with its antique pedigree. The realization of the elephant is superb, with many anatomical details and accurate figuration. It appears to be fairly uncommon and with a different base and positioning of its legs than the quite similar Bradley and Hubbard cast iron elephant doorstop. This particular period piece, although from the same era as the black and white piece and with very similar overall figuration, namely the folds in the floppy ears and the pleats and wrinkles of the skin. This antique cast iron elephant doorstop is painted with a base metallic silver enamel paint. I has hand painted black enamel eye and mottled, variegated green enamel painted base. All the surfaces are original and untouched. Minor episodes of oxidation populate its surfaces. Elephant lovers and you know who you are, unite! Good to Very Good overall antique condition.
