Vintage Boston Terrier Cast Iron Doorstop with Red Leather Collar (Hubley-style)

Vintage Boston Terrier Cast Iron Doorstop with rare original Hubley-like Red Leather Collar. Note that collar is attached and perfect for display purposes, but the leather is partially torn at the hole where it buckles. Original Paint– nice patina–I didn’t try to clean it. Measures about 9″ long, 4″wide, 9 tall, and weighs 5lb, 5oz. From an estate sale. NOTE: I have been told by a Hubley collector that this is not a Hubley, but it is a very nice period copy! AnTiQuE BOSTON TERRIER Bulldog Cast Iron Dog DOORSTOP vtg hubley-style

Antique Boston Terrier Bulldog Dog Cast Iron Doorstop. This is a genuine old piece but it is NOT an original by Hubley. I found this antique cast iron Boston Terrier doorstop recently at a sale. There were many companies Hubley, National Foundry, Albany Foundry, etc… That produced these doorstops in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. They were most popular during the 1920s – 1940s. Many of them were made out of two pieces. Judging by the paint, smooth metal/edges, and seams that are a tight fit, one can tell it is an old quality repro and not one of the later 20th century repros. The paint is original and authentic though I feel like the eyes and mouth could have been touched up some time ago.
