Measuring, 12 1/2″ long by 2 1/2″ tall, this solid Cast Iron Alligator has a long thin shape and an open mouth. The tail may have been used as a door wedge. The dark green painted surface you see is guaranteed to be the first original paint and although there is some very light surface wear, this rare Doorstop is in excellent original condition with no restorations. The doorstop dates from the early 20th century (1900-20) and is signed / marked Albany Fdy Co. And is stamped with their design #121. This is a wonderfully detailed example of an Albany Foundry doorstop! DIMENSIONS – 10 5/8″ tall 7 11/16″ wide (widest) 2 5/8 deep (base)….. Weighs 5.5 lbs. CONDITION – The doorstop is in excellent condition structurally, with no breaks, cracks, repairs, etc. And retains a beautiful, original painted surface. N exceptional cast iron, figural Flower Doorstop, Hubley Manufacturing Co. This is Hubley design #315: “Marigolds”. An impressive floral display arranged in an Art Deco, beehive-form vase. Features (4) yellow-orange Marigolds, (2) Blue Asters, (2) pale pink Daisies and a robin’s egg blue Poppy. This stop retains its original painted surface. Marked on the reverse: “315” and “MADE IN USA” (see close-up, photo #6). Protective green felt has been added to the base at some point. Minor highpoint wear on the blossoms and along the pedestal edge, as shown; otherwise Excellent with bold, vibrant (and highly-accurate) colors. The addition of the fallen leaf on the base shows the kind of detail that sets Hubley doorstops apart from the rest! See photos for complete details and close-ups.
