Cast Iron Owl Sculputure 1950’s Noguchi Era Midcentury Brutalist Sculpture / Bookend / Doorstop. Made of forged iron, this piece measures approximately 5 7/8 in. Tall x 31/4 in. Wide x 3 1/2 in. The finish has spots of green patina. The finish is in original condition. Sculpture weighs 3 lbs 4 oz.. Photos show all areas of the piece and are part of the description. Note of interest: Isaam Noguchi was born in 1904 in Los Angeles, and died in NYC in 1988. He received a Guggenheim Fellowship in 1927 to study stone and wood sculpture in Paris. He traveled through Asia. In France he assisted sculptor Constanin Brancusi who inspired him to create his abstract sculptures for which he became world renowned. His works are held world wide. Midcentury Art Deco Modern Cat Cast Iron Door Stop Sculpture. Interesting and beautiful art deco/ mid century modern cast iron Siamese looking cat. Much of the vintage gold paint is still visible- minimal wear for its age. Height: 11 1/4 tall including base. Depth: base is 3″ deep by 4″ wide. Easily used as a sculpture, decor, or door stop. This feline is heavy, weighing in at approximately 4 1/2 lbs. I have found one other like this on google. It says US manufacture in the mid 1950’s.

VINTAGE Cast Iron OWL Sculpture Bookend Doorstop. A pair of minimalist in design and creation forged iron owls. Heavy welded metal abstract bird sculptures. Some remnants of greenish and gold flack patina under dark finish. The finish is in original condition. Credited to sculptor Isaam Noguchi in the 1950’s. These have been incredible to have in my collection, but it is time for them to find a new loving home. Approximate measurements: 5.75inch tall, 4inch deep, 3.25inch wide. Will be packaged with extreme care. Thank you for looking.
