HILTON HEAD HUMANE (HHH). ANTIQUE/VINTAGE HUBLEY SITTING CAT CAST IRON DOORSTOP #302. DESCRIPTION : This listing features a signed, numbered Hubley cast iron doorstop designed as a sitting long haired cat originally painted white with green eyes and pink inner ears. The item measures approximately 9″ high x 6 1/4″ wide x 5 7/8 deep. It is constructed in two parts; has the Hubley name deeply stamped into both pieces and the # 302 inscribed on both pieces. Much of the original paint has worn away and there are places where it has chipped off, but in some ways this gives this piece from the 1940’s more appeal. The green eye and pink inner ear color is still visible. We received and have listed a large collection of vintage/antique cast iron doorstops from a valued collector’s estate; be sure to check them out. Our items have been donated to our thrift store and we usually do not have first hand knowledge of the item. We are also staffed by volunteers who are probably not expert in the item listed. Vintage Cast Iron Doorstop Colorful Cat with Blue Bow Sitting Up on Pink Pillow. For Your Vintage Cast Iron Doorstop Collection. Description: A very nice and rather uncommon vintage cast iron doorstop. The doorstop is cast in the form of colorful cat sitting up on a pink colored pillow. The cat is white in color with yellow eyes having dark pupils. The cat’s ears are perked up and have a pink interior. He has a blue bow around its neck and shows black whiskers around its mouth. The doorstop has a flat base and shows the details of the pillow including a rope along its edge. The casting is nicely done and shows details of the cat’s fur, eyes, mouth, tail next to its body, legs and paws. The back of the piece is painted in off white and is fairly soiled and displays no markings that we could find. This is a rather heavy doorstop given its size, it weighs over 5 pounds against a height of 8 1/2. The bottom of the base is is flat and is half oval in shape. A beautiful and rather rare doorstop worthy of a spot in your collection. Please carefully review the photos as they are part and parcel of the description. Date: Uncertain but most likely early to mid 20th century. Size: Measures 8 1/2″ in height with the base measuring 6 1/8″ by 2. The piece weighs over 5 pounds and 1 ounce. However, our research suggests that a The Connecticut Foundry made similar doorstops, but a bit smaller, in 1929. Distinguishing Characteristics – Most Interesting About The Piece: This is a nice and uncommon old doorstop. It weighs over 5 pounds and is in great condition with minimum losses to its beautiful coloring. A beautiful piece which would display very well in your collection of doorstops. Condition: This doorstop is in very good condition with no breaks or repairs. It retains quite a bit of its original coloring (estimated > 85%) with some wear and loss of coloring, especially at the edge of the pillow, around the eyes, and at the high points of the cat’s fur. However, its colors are still vivid and beautiful. The bottom of the base shows some soiling, spots of rust, and wear. There are also a few minor spots of rust which are seen on the body in general, but nothing of concern. All of these issues do not distract from the piece’s beauty and quality. I have a few other cast iron doorstops and/or paper weights. Here is a very nice vintage cast iron 10 sitting cat doorstop. This weighs a bit over 7lbs unboxed. The paint has wear, but it’s not too bad really. I could not find any markings. There may be some under the felt, but I didn’t see any with what is exposed. I’ve seen this style doorstop listed as being from the 1880s-1890s or so. I’m not sure, but it without question has some age! Please see pics for more details. I HAVE NO CONTROL OVER IT. VOTE TO CHANGE THINGS! I USUALLY HAVE DIFFERENT CHOICES.

RARE Original Antique ALBANY FOUNDRY or HUBLEY CAST IRON Sitting BLACK CAT Doorstop Statue. 7″ Tall x 3 1/2″ on base. Heavy and weighs in at approx. 9 LBS 7 OZ. Vintage Used Condition-Excellent Condition. Founded by John E. Hubley in 1894 to manufacture equipment and accessories for electric trains. From day one, John Hubley emphasized toy and bank manufacturing. The first Hubley toys appeared in 1909 and were made of cast-iron Anything Hubley ever made was always made in Cast Iron. Today, Hubley is most known for their Cast Iron Toys. Hubley’s Marking Style. Their Numbers on back were usually in. Engraved in the back of the Doorstop. The earliest (original) creations were marked this way, and then later on they added “made in USA”.
