ANTIQUE HUBLEY SOLID CAST IRON COCKER SPANIEL DOG DOORSTOP ART 5 lbs 7 in long

ANTIQUE HUBLEY SOLID CAST IRON COCKER SPANIEL DOG DOORSTOP. This lovely dog weighs 5 lbs and is 7 inches long by 4 inches high at head by about 2 inches wide. The paint is all original (no touch-ups) and in very good condition overall, with a few isolated spots that have worn thin or chipped off (see photos). Details are clear and sharp, including the red collar, red line of the mouth, and black eyes with white and red highlights. The wavy fur is nicely detailed as well. On the bottom of each foot is an adhesive felt pad to prevent scratching surfaces, but these are easily removable if desired. An extremely good specimen of this highly collectible Hubley door stop. This dog is from the collection of Leo Heinige, former founder of a now closed antique shop called The Button Box in Storrs, CT. Please check photos carefully and ask if you have any questions. Antique Hubley Cast Iron Doorstop Putting Golfer #34, Original Paint, 1920, NR

Description : An investment-quality, 100-yr old painted Cast Iron Doorstop, 8-3/8H, Hubley Manufacturing Co. This is Hubley design #34: Putting Golfer. A period sporting gentleman dressed in a bold red jacket and tan striped knee breeches, addressing the ball on a green turf/scrub base. I think this might be a chip-putt with an iron. Impressed 34 on reverse. Retains original painted and highly-detailed surface. The photos are probably the best description. Literature : Jeanne Bertoias Doorstops: Identification & Values , Ordinary People, p. Condition : Some expected soiling, high point wear, oxidation, etc. It has not been cleaned. There is some fading noted on the front edge of the green. Beware of the many reproductions our there.. This example actually grades higher than the Putting Golfer in the book (see close-up, photo #1). A true cross-collectible that will not disappoint!
