Antique Lion Pair Cast Iron Heraldic Doorstop Mantle statue 1860 XL 20 70lbs

Pair of generously proportioned , painted cast iron door stop porter mantle lions, seated with front paws resting on a scrolled element, haunches supported on a shaped plinth with decorative, raised scrollwork on the front. This pose is used in British and other heraldic devices and is technically called “A “lion sejant erect”, with the lion seated on its haunches, but with its body erect and both forepaws raised in the “rampant” position (this is sometimes termed “sejant-rampant). 70 pounds original paint in green red undercoat. Rare Antique Original ROOSTER Marked #8232 Cast Iron Doorstop Mold 135lbs.. This is basically the HOLY GRAIL if you collect door stops. I have researched for the past month before listing these and have come up with nothing. They could be worth a ton more but with the process of single antique ones and the rarity of this piece I think my price is fair. You WILL NOT FIND ANOTHER, except for the other two auctions I have listed. Be sure to check them out. They came from a dealer in Vermont that had them in his closed store for the last 30 years. On with the details. It is extremely HEAVY at a solid 135lbs. This piece Measures 14″ tall by 13″ wide by 4 thick and all solid, not hollow one bit! . AGAIN, marked 8232 on the bottom. Has the original holes that would have been used. This is a rooster. This would have been a flat back doorstop. Not sure if it ever made it into production and not sure who produced with 4-digit numbers. I put a drop of liquid gold on it just to bring out it’s gorgeous look rather than it looking dull and old. Did not remove anything from it whatsoever. I have two other examples for sale. Check out ALL the pictures as I do consider them part of the description as well.
