Antique Albany Foundry Cast Iron Original DOLLY DINGLE Signed #38. We also have the Hubley Bobbly Blake, matching doorstop listed separately. It is very difficult to read the maker’s name inside the back of her head-you can only feel it. The #38 is clear at the back of the bottom base. Coloring on this items is exactly as on the Doorstops dot com site for a Hubley. This is made by Albany Foundry. We can’t find any available made by them. Cast Iron Hubley Bathing Beauties Doorstop Marked Fish & 250 On The Back! Heavy
CAST IRON HUBLEY BATHING BEAUTIES DOORSTOP MARKED FISH & 250 ON THE BACK! Fish was commissioned by Hubley to design several doorstops and his signature is on the bottom front base. On the back it looks like it is stamped 250 in the cast iron. This is a heavy doorstop weighing well over 4 pounds. It measures 11 inches tall and 5 1/4 inches wide on the base. Antique Rare All Original Elf Under Mushroom Cast Iron Doorstop Marked N514e
Here’s a very rare original antique Elf Under Mushroom cast iron doorstop with almost all of its original paint! It is marked N514E on back, but it actually looks like a letter B on the end to me? 7 1/2″tall x 6 1/2″wide x 2 3/4deep….. Very thick heavy cast iron….. Wonderful original paint has normal old aging and wear, but real nice overall. Excellent condition with no damage of any kind. I believe this is the exact Elf Under Mushroom doorstop pictured on a major antique doorstop site on “Identification of Antique Doorstops Cast Prior To 1948″. Look closely at the back and notice all of the intricate details of the paint, wear, etc….. I’m 100% positive this is the EXACT doorstop pictured there. This none-too-often-seen doorstop is referenced in Jeanne Bertoia’s book, “Doorstops”, at page 33. She is definitely reminiscent of the appeal for the Spanish motifs of the Art Deco period. Although timeworn and naturally aged, this lovely piece VIVIDLY retains NEARLY ALL of its ORIGINAL, POLYCHROME PAINT, with its detailing colors yet VIBRANT and RICHLY TONED! There is no spray painting here; it’s ALL HAND-PAINTED! Attesting to its age, there is chipping and wear to its original paint. And, where that chipping and wear does occur, it is followed by the exposure of the welcomed, base coat, or that telltale, yet coveted, mahogany patina/hue of the exposed iron, that can only be brought about by age. None of the foregoing affects the integrity of the piece, but merely evidences its ANTIQUE character.
